We've replaced the old machine with a computer.我們用電腦取代了那臺舊機器。

We have replaced human labour with machines.我們用機器取代了人類勞動。

They replaced trams by buses.他們用公共汽車代替了電車。

different的用法

1、表示“與……不同”，其後一般接介詞 from, 有時也用 to（英）或 than（美），但均不及用 from 普遍。如：

1、City life is very different from [to, than] country life. 城市生活與農村生活很不相同。

2、Their tastes are different from [to, than] mine. 他們的愛好與我的不同。

順便說一句，副詞 differently 的情形也是一樣。如：

He thinks differently from [to, than] you. 他的想法與你的不同。

2、副詞 much 通常不修飾形容詞原級，但 different 是個例外，它可受 much 的修飾。如：

1、He is much different from you. 他與你大不相同。

其他修飾 different 的常見副詞如下例：

1、He is very different from me. 他與我很不相同。

2、This is quite different from that. 這個與那個很不相同。

為了加強否定的語氣，可用 no 代替 not。比較：

1、This is not different from that.

這個與那個沒有差別。

2、This is no different from that.

這個與那個完全一樣。

注：no different from=the same as。

3、 different（不同的）的反義詞是 same（相同的），而不能想當然地認為是 indifferent（不關心的，冷淡的）。比較：

1、He’s indifferent to this problem. 他對這個問題不感興趣。

2、He is indifferent to suffering and poverty. 他不在乎苦與窮
